We love Bristol…let’s all love Bristol together!

Those of you who might have tuned in to read our blogs before will know how much we love Bristol here at SK but how can you not??!

For anyone new to this wonderful city of ours, there’s so much to explore, so much to see and so many things to do…we’ve been here for years and we still fall in love with it over and over again!

So where to start? We thought we’d give you a few of our favourites and a helping hand to start with so get your walking shoes at the ready…

Based in Clifton, we of course love the village. With cafés, restaurants and shops galore, we really are lucky to have everything on our doorstep including the magnificent Suspension Bridge. Brunel’s masterpiece really is a sight to behold and well worth a visit when getting to know the city – I walked across the bridge on Saturday morning and even after 5 years here it still manages to take my breath away…an absolute MUST.

Bristol Cathedral, St Mary Redcliffe, Wills Memorial Building…there are churches, memorials and historical buildings throughout the city which are beautiful. You could spend a day alone just visiting these – lots to learn and some really gorgeous sight.

The harbourside! Bristol has an incredible maritime history and as such, the harbourside always has lots going on. Once a busy dock, the harbour is now filled with Sunday markets, waterside eateries (do not miss Wapping Wharf!) as well as all manner of sporting activities including yachting, paddle boarding and rowing. As if that wasn’t enough, you can learn about the story of Bristol’s floating harbour at the Underfall Yard, step aboard our very own museum ship SS Great Britain and celebrate our nautical heritage every summer with the incredible Bristol Harbour Festival. (Want to travel in style too? You can also catch a ferry along the water instead of a bus if you need a rest).

Our brilliant coloured houses. No tour of Bristol is complete without seeing these. You’ll find them dotted in different locations across the city – Clifton, Cliftonwood, Redcliffe and Totterdown to name but a few – and their fabulous pops of colour are guaranteed to put a smile on anybody’s face…

Green space, green space and green space – wherever you are in Bristol, you’re never far away from a beautiful outdoor space to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle a little. Make sure you check out Ashton Court, The Downs, Brandon Hill (make sure you climb Cabot Tower whilst you’re there), Arnos Vale, Tyntesfield (National Trust), Blaise Castle, Troopers Hill…we can go on and on!

An endless list of independent cafés, restaurants and boutiques throughout the entire city (particular favourites can be found on Park Street and Gloucester Road).

Banksy. For the artists amongst you, follow a walking tour for an insider’s guide to some of the elusive graffiti artist’s most well-known works. Like street art? You’ll find cutting edge pieces throughout Bristol but head to Southville and Bedminster where there is even an annual festival (Upfest) to celebrate it.

And last but by no means least…the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. Four days, 150 hot air balloons and possibly one of the most spectacular sights you’ll ever see. Held every year in August, this is without doubt one of the most wonderful things about living in Bristol and we’re looking forward to it already!

We have had a video that was specially commissioned by Sarah Kenny Residential Lettings to showcase the city of Bristol. Watch it here: https://www.sarahkennyresidentiallettings.co.uk/we-love-bristol/
