The fabulous Wapping Wharf on Bristol’s harbourside…

So, Wapping Wharf opened last summer and has completely taken the harbourside by storm since its arrival.

This fantastic new addition to Bristol’s waterfront is made up of two main parts along Gaol Ferry Steps and the superb Cargo. Gaol Ferry Steps is made up of a brilliant mix of independent bars, restaurants and cafes and Cargo is home to further eateries and retailers within a complex made entirely of converted shipping containers – AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

It’s difficult to put our finger on exactly what it is, but the atmosphere at Wapping Wharf is always great. The whole place is always buzzing and after a recent trip out for lunch last week, it’s easy to see why as the food, drinks and service were second to none.

First on our hit list was Pigsty. Local produce from The Jolly Hog meant for a great lunch. Highly recommend are the Banger Bap (three succulent sausages, bramley apple and cider chutney with mild chimichurri) or the Pig Mac (pork burger with pulled pork in a brioche bun with a dollop of yummy house slaw) with a side of sweet potato fries accompanied by a nice cold beer or cider – the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

After Pigsty, we popped into Woky Ko to taste the only dessert they serve and one of which we had heard rave reviews – their salted caramel ice cream bao. People, if you are looking for a sweet treat whilst in the city centre, this is the one to try! The rest of their menu looks fantastic too with traditional Asian sharing plates and fresh noodles made to order – we were lucky to get a seat it was so busy!

There are so many places to eat in Bristol but Wapping Wharf offers something quite special. Prior to last week’s visit, we had already sampled the excellent coffee and cake at Little Victories, one of the best sausage rolls EVER in Mokoko and with places like Bertha’s Pizza, The Pickled Brisket and The Athenian on offer we are already planning our next trip…Wapping Wharf, you rock and we’ll be back very soon!
