Why Ashton Court is one of our favourite places for a walk in Bristol

It’s quite rare to feel like you’re in the middle of the countryside when actually you’re only a few minutes from the hustle bustle of a busy city centre but that’s exactly what Ashton Court offers and it’s one of the reasons we love it so much!

Found just the other side of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Ashton Court Estate is a country park and mansion with 850 acres of grounds open to the public. Admission is free (there may be a small charge payable to enter some parts of the estate if a special event is running, particularly inside of the house) and it’s just a beautiful place to go whatever the weather.

Aside from a lovely walk, the estate is also great for runners, cyclists (there are bike trails through the woodlands), golfers (the estate has two 18-hole par 3 golf courses) and families will find picnic areas, play areas and a miniature railway too which runs at different times throughout the year (click here for dates and details).

With two cafés inside of the grounds, there is always a tasty treat with a tea or coffee to be found too which is of course a nice little bonus.

Do not miss the deer parks (there are beautiful herds of both fallow deer and red deer which live on the estate to see), the bluebells in spring are just incredible and with the autumn leaves now arrived we know exactly where we’ll be headed this weekend! Ashton Court, we are huge fans and look forward to seeing you again very soon…
